Biography

Ms. Luker joined the firm after serving a six-month term as Judge Pro Tempore for Civil District Court by appointment of the Louisiana Supreme Court from July to December 2014.

Her areas of practice have included complex litigation, business disputes, maritime litigation (offshore oil and gas contract disputes, personal injury and property damage claims), employment discrimination, construction law, bad faith insurance claims, unfair trade practice claims, toxic torts (silica, asbestos, benzene, lead paint, noise), civil RICO, environmental matters, and product liability litigation. Ms. Luker served as national counsel for multiple clients in mass tort and multi-party litigation (class action, multi-district litigation, and consolidated cases), directing, training, and appearing in court with local attorneys across the country and as trial counsel, giving her a unique understanding of the client’s perspective. She is the designated first call for certain clients when faced with environmental subpoenas and/or investigations.

She is Co-Director of the Trial Advocacy Program as well as the Pre-Trial Civil Litigation Boot Camp, and, with Magistrate Judge Karen Wells Roby, co-teaches the first course on eDiscovery and Evidence at Tulane. An Adjunct Faculty for over 30 years, she has received the Tulane Distinguished Teaching Award. She was also the recipient of the 2015 Tulane Law School Environmental Law Distinguished Alumna of the Year award.

Ms. Luker has been named as a SuperLawyer each year since 2007 (and appeared as the cover story for the 2015 edition), a Leader in Law by New Orleans CityBusiness, a Woman of the Year twice, and as one of the Best Lawyers in America since 2009. She holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is a Proctor in Admiralty in the Maritime Law Association. She was named a Role Model by the Young Leadership Council. She is also the immediate past Chair of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms. She is also the former President of the University of New Orleans Alumni Association.
